Sunday GATHERING

Join us on Sundays at the Melvin H. King South End Academy (formerly McKinley Elementary School):

Start Time: 10:15am

Address: 90 Warren Avenue, Boston, MA 02116

Each Sunday, we also invite you to join us for Pre-Gathering Prayer at 9:30am to intentionally seek God's presence and pray on behalf of the staff and students at the school.

ABOUT OUR Sunday gatherings

Our Sunday gatherings are a central part of who we are as a community following Jesus. This is a time of corporate renewal where we gather to retell the story of the gospel—the great redemptive story into which God graciously invites us. We participate in this story together through a set of practices (a liturgy) that is detailed below. Our gatherings are designed to be hospitable and to combine both expressive and contemplative forms of worship. We welcome anyone and everyone to attend.

Order of Prayer & Worship: Check out our Sunday liturgy here!

Children & Families: Children are welcome to join us on Sundays! For families who are interested, children are dismissed right before the Sermon (during the Passing of the Peace) for an age appropriate Bible Story and Activity. This time includes a story from a children's Bible, a related activity, a simple snack, and free play. Children are picked up by their parents immediately following the conclusion of the service.

Parking: The school has a parking lot that is accessible via Dartmouth Street, but the lot is also open to the community on weekends, so spots are first-come, first-served. See the parking map below for directions. Metered parking is also free in Boston on Sundays and can be found on most major streets (Dartmouth St, Clarendon St, Boylston St, Columbus Ave, Tremont St, etc).

2024 SERMON SERIES // TO LIVE IS CHRIST

The first church in Europe was planted in a Roman colony called Philippi, a city that was well-known for its patriotic nationalism and hostile toward the proclamation that Jesus was the true King of the world. As the Philippians face persecution and obstacles to faith, the words of encouragement they need come from Paul the Apostle himself... as he writes to them from a prison cell.

Join us this Lent as we discover how it is possible to find peace, joy, and contentment in the face of trials because of the new life we have in Christ. Through the Book of Philippians, we will encounter the Savior who humbled himself as a servant to the point of death on a cross and who invites us now into a life lived for His glory.

“These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.”

—Colossians 2:17, NIV
